The Swedish sawmill industry’s demand for wood continues to increase despite the global economic situation being uncertain due to the pandemic.

”The demand for raw materials continues to increase even though we see a great deal of uncertainty in our surrounding world due to the increasing spread of coronavirus infection. The conditions for our production in the forests are currently good and we continue to have a high focus on the spruce bark beetle infestations in our members’ forests,” says Olof Hansson, business area manager at Södra Skog.

Södra will make the following price adjustments as of 2 November 2020:

  • Spruce timber prices will be increased by SEK 30 / m³ (EUR 2.89/m3)
  • Small-diameter timber’s price will be increased by SEK 25 / m³ (EUR 2.41/m3)
