The wood-based panel producer Kronospan wants to massively expand its location in Steinheim-Sandebeck, Germany. Kronospan plans investments totaling 100 million euros this year and in 2022.
Among other things, a new coating plant is to be built. The company sees the investment as a clear commitment to Steinheim-Sandebeck.
In a time of economic uncertainty, they want to consciously invest countercyclically. There are currently 250 employees at the site – in the future, the new coating plant will add up to 60.
The company plans to start construction this April and operations could start next year. Currently, however, the applications are initially with the Detmold district government.
Kronospan operates at 46 locations. The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of chipboard – the Sandebeck site has existed since the early 80s.
